And just like any great getaway, figuring out where to crash after a day of exploring is key.. Mammoth has an eclectic mix of spots to stay depending on what you’re after. Slopeside Convenience


Located at the base of Mammoth Mountain, right across from Main Lodge, Mammoth Mountain Inn's gold star is location, location, location. If you’re a family on winter vacation, this is the place for you. Just a quick hop from the chairlifts, it’s got everything you need for a perfect stay. Come summertime, the proximity to activities is still impressive. On your doorstep, you can catch the Red’s Meadow shuttle and enjoy an afternoon of hikes and sightseeing or you can walk over to Main Lodge, rent a bike and rip the 80 miles of single-track that the Bike Park has to offer. The hotel itself boasts a cozy, rustic charm with fireplaces and leather sofas in the lobby, and offers a variety of accommodations for all types of travelers. From single queen and king rooms to spacious 3-bedroom condos, this spot can accommodate solo travelers and big families alike. Although the Mammoth Mountain Inn is a bit of a drive to the Village where most of the restaurants and shops are, there are so many amenities at this hotel that you really don’t have to leave. From a cafè that opens before the lifts start spinning to a full bar and cozy restaurant that offers floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the ski hill, it’s tough to top this slopeside gem. Need to get your legs warm before a full-on ski day? Their fitness center is stocked with everything you need—including Peloton stationary bikes. Trying to soothe sore muscles after a big day? There are heated pools and hot tubs as well. Oh, and if you’re wondering whether to bring your furry friend along—go for it! Pets are welcome to join in the Mammoth adventure too.

This collection of cabins nestled in the woods in Mammoth’s Lakes Basin is your go-to for a true mountain escape. While there are some single rooms available, the real gems here are the individual cabins. Ranging in size, you’ll find intimate single rooms as well as three-bedroom rustic cabins that sleep up to nine comfortably. Each cabin is equipped with a full-size kitchen, a fireplace and views for days. Tamarack Lodge is a special spot anytime of year. In the fall, you can catch the trees turning from green to fiery orange and during summer you have Twin Lakes on your front doorstep. You can sunbathe, fish, or rent a kayak or paddleboard from the Yurt nearby. They also carry eBike rentals, perfect for enjoying the paved bike trails that will take you up the Lakes Basin, through the trees and past a number of crystal blue lakes. During winter, this place becomes a white oasis. Tamarack Cross-Country Ski Center is home to over 19 miles of ski trails and offers rentals, lessons and guided tours. Depending on when you book your trip, there are even a few guided full-moon tours through the trails. Looking for something a little more mellow? The Yurt offers snowshoe rentals that are perfect for exploring the landscape when we have a few feet of snow on the ground. Beyond the views, activities and privacy, the restaurant really seals the deal on this spot. Awarded ‘Best Dinner in the Eastern Sierra’ by Sunset Magazine, dining at The Lakefront is a must if you stay at Tamarack Lodge. This intimate dining location overlooks Twin Lakes and serves gourmet cuisine reflecting seasonal ingredients and fine wines that compliment the current offerings. On weekends, you can even find Joe Grey in the lobby, filling the air with keys from the grand piano accompanied by an angelic vocalist. Enjoy the live music, grab a cocktail from the bar, and wait for your reservation time by the fireplace. An upscale lodging option with a wonderful proximity to shops, restaurants, and nightlife, The Westin Monache Resort ticks many boxes for a wonderful stay. If being in the heart of it all is your thing, The Village Lodge is where you want to be. Right in the middle of all the action, this spot is perfect for checking out restaurants, shops, and events—you literally can’t get any closer. This lodging option is located at the base of Mammoth Mountain, just steps away from Eagle Lodge. Positioned a couple miles from the Village, this is the ideal combination of proximity to skiing while still getting all the quaintness of a relaxing getaway. They offer an array of room options and all units include a full kitchen and an in-room fireplace. Each unit also includes a private balcony! It’s quiet, cozy, and the views of the Sherwins are the chef’s kiss.
