Freeski Team
Mammoth Freeski team offers programs for skiers 8 years and older. We have a wide variety of programs to suite a wide variety of levels. Whether you’re looking to develop your skills in the park, pipe or as a big mountain freeride competitor, Mammoth Freeski team will provide you with what you need to reach your goals.
Producing top athletes is important, but developing good people with people-skills is equally important to us. Education, courage, discipline, accountability, integrity and teamwork are all blended into the team experience. Success on and off the hill is measured by achievements, not just results.

Coaching
Our coaching staff is certified through USSA and USASA. They have the knowledge and experience to help any young skier set and reach their goals. The coaches ask our athletes to work hard towards their goals but there is always time for fun. We want our athletes to enjoy what they are doing. We strive to develop a lifelong passion for skiing and the mountains.
Top Athletes
The Freeski Team has a history of producing some of the best up-and-coming skiers in the world. Since the Freeski Team originated, team members have moved on to the U.S. and International Teams and competed at top-level international events.

Elite Team
All Ages (Skill-Based Entry)
The Elite Team is reserved for the highest caliber athletes who have the skill, attitude, maturity and work ethic of an elite athlete. This team is based 100% around competition and focuses on progressing skiing skills, and learning difficult and complex tricks while developing routines for competition.
Training
This group uses video equipment extensively and trains in halfpipe and slopestyle. Dryland training is an essential part of the program and consists of workouts at the team’s private gym, as well as trampoline sessions at Mammoth Trampoline Club. They also use airbags and other specialized training facilities to develop skills at an increased rate. Avalanche training courses are offered at an extra cost to those who want to venture into the backcountry. Summer conditioning and training camps are used to keep athletes on snow and competing with the best in the world.
Selection for Elite Team
Selections for this group will be at the discretion of the head coach and program and will be based on ability, attitude, commitment and motivation towards competition and training.
Schedule
The Elite Team begins training in November (conditions permitting). They train on snow Sunday–Thursday until the end of April. Trampoline and gym schedules will be announced when the program starts. Conditioning schedules will be communicated when on-snow training finishes on Mammoth Mountain. Elite Team athletes will have access to the Mammoth High Performance Camp and will train alongside the best in the world. Summer training trips to Mt. Hood, Saas Fee, New Zealand or other destinations will be a part of their summer schedule (additional costs apply). Freeski DEVELOPMENT TEAM
The Freeski Development Team is for skiers working to develop the FUNdamentals of freeskiing. Training includes the events of halfpipe, slopestyle, skicross and railjam. 50% of training time is spent freeriding around the mountain looking for powder, trees and steeps, and ripping the groomed runs. Freeriding is important for attaining the mileage necessary to practice and refine the skills needed to ski the parks and pipes safely. The main competitions are the USASA Unbound events at Mammoth and potentially USASA Nationals. The Freeski Development Team will be broken into groups relevant to skill level and aspiration.
Ability
The athlete should be able to link smooth consistent turns from the top of Broadway Express (CH 1) down Broadway (blue runs) with a solid basic stance without stopping. They must also be able to ride the groomed runs off of Face Lift Express (CH 3) and High-Five Express (CH 5) comfortably. All new Freeski Development Team members must pass a skiing ability assessment with a coach prior to receiving their uniform and joining the group.
Schedule
Season runs from November through April. Spring Camps are available to all athletes in this program through May and June (conditions permitting) at no extra cost. Freeski Development Team athletes are required to attend 50% of scheduled training opportunities.

Freeski Junior Team
13–20 YEARS OLD
The Freeski Team is broken out into groups based on skills and competition aspiration. In this program, skiers will develop the skills needed to ski all over the mountain in all conditions. They will also train in Mammoth’s Unbound Terrain Parks and learn the skills necessary to compete in events such as skicross, big air, halfpipe, slopestyle, rail jams and big mountain freeskiing. They will compete in the local Unbound USASA Series. Participation in some FIS level competition is optional and athletes may possibly qualify for USASA Nationals at the end of the season.
AbiliTY
