Night of Lights Tips & Tricks
Mammoth Mountain’s Night of Lights Festival has been a tradition since the late '80s when Ed Marcy, Director of Special Events and Larry Walker, Marketing Art Director at the time, introduced the very first event at Main Lodge. It has come and gone over the years, but in January of 2008, made a successful return with the help of fresh ideas, new locations, and a renewed vision for how Mammoth could continue celebrating one of the season's most magical nights with the community that supports us time and time again. Whether under the full moon or amidst a snowstorm, it's always a show to remember.
This year’s 24/25 event will kick off on Saturday, December 14th at Canyon Lodge with plenty of activity offerings such as snowmobile rides, tubing, photos with Santa and Woolly, a torchlight parade, music and a high-elevation firework show set to start at 6:45 PM. For those who prefer indoor activities there will also be a full bar, live DJ and shopping at Mammoth Sports.
Know before you go
Due to the popularity of the event there will be limited parking available. It is best to take our town shuttle or head over to the village and ride the gondola to Canyon Lodge. All buses departing Canyon Lodge will stop at every Mammoth Lakes Transit Night Trolley location and Night of Lights Park & Ride stops.
If you are driving there will be overflow parking available at the Mammoth High School and Eagle Lodge with access to shuttle transportation from there. Please be mindful when driving on icy roads and of those walking to the event.
A friendly reminder that conditions will be cold. It is important to bundle up and dress warm - so stock those gloves and socks with heat warmers! Keep an eye out for a tent on the snow offering coffee, cocoa and cookies. Other warm beverages will be available at Lincoln Bar inside the Lodge.
For all your light wand, glow stick or Mammoth merchandise needs visit the retail tent located between Chair 16 and 17.
For transportation hours and town routes please see our event program.
